I'm taking a few minutes to tell you how wonderful our holiday was at Camping les Rulières in the Vendée. This campsite has several fishing ponds, and for a fisherman like me, this is a real godsend.
Marion, my wife, and my two children know how passionate I am about fishing. Currently, when we go on holiday, we're primarily looking for a Camping with a private fishing pond.
At Les Rulières campsite, we were spoiled. I say "we" because my wife and children weren't bored at all while I indulged in my passion, freshwater fishing.
Indeed, the campsite has a lovely heated indoor swimming pool, more than large enough for the entire campsite. I didn't spend my time fishing; I also kept an eye on our two young children, aged 10 and 12. They can easily swim in the large pool given their ages and heights, the eldest is already 1.75m tall. They were having a quiet time in the water while my wife and I relaxed on loungers around the pool.
Returning to my passion, fishing, we generally select campsites with private or exclusive fishing ponds because I don’t want to find myself with too many anglers in the same spot. I'm a carp angler, which makes me a carpist.
I bought a lot of gear, not just for fun, but also out of respect for the fish I manage to catch. The main advantage of the Rulières fishing pond is its size. It's a guarantee of being able to bring back some very beautiful fish. What's more, during my stay, fish weighing 5 to 6 pounds were not uncommon. You should know that there are several ponds on the site, imagine the pleasure that represents for a fisherman like me.
In life, I'm quite a sharer and I enjoy comparing my fishing techniques with others. On the other hand, I also like to set off alone in the morning, set up my gear, and think that since the fishing pond is private, I could end up on my own for quite some time, enjoying the exclusivity of the place.
The atmosphere at the campsite is friendly. I forgot to mention that you must, of course, practice catch-and-release fishing. This practice is essential if we want to preserve the resource. The different ponds are well maintained and there is a path around them that my wife and children have walked several times. It is not uncommon to encounter animals there, particularly birds.
In summary, concerning our stay, I had dreamlike moments, practising my favourite activity on a private fishing lake. I often found myself alone, and believe me, a carp angler likes to be in that kind of situation!
