Accessible via the bridge from La Rochelle, the Île de Ré is a charming destination located around 1h15 from the Camping Les Rulières. Nicknamed ’Ré la Blanche« because of its traditional houses with green shutters, it offers a complete change of scenery between salt marshes, vineyards and fine sandy beaches.
L'Île à Vélo: Nature, Salt and Freedom
The Île de Ré is a cyclist's paradise, with over 110 kilometres of safe, perfectly level cycle paths.
Local markets: Don't miss the daily markets (particularly the one in La Flotte) to sample local produce: island potatoes, sea salt and fresh oysters.
Les Marais Salants: Between Loix and Ars, explore the salt-harvesting areas where the sauniers perpetuate an ancestral know-how. It's also a great place to watch migratory birds.
Les Plages Sauvages: Trails take you directly to the dunes of Bois-Plage or Conche des Baleines, vast stretches of sand lined with pine trees for a serene swim.
